School Admissions
Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will ever make and you will naturally wish to find out as much information as possible prior to making your final decision regarding your child’s primary education. At St John’s, we welcome all opportunities to showcase our school, children and learning culture.
Our school tours are led by a member of the Senior Leadership Team and take place at regular intervals during the autumn and early part of the spring term. The next series of tours will commence from October 2024, however, spaces on each of the dates is limited to a specific number of adults to ensure the best experience for everyone.

Reception
Reception applications should be made both to the school and to the London Borough of Barnet.
Places are allocated in accordance with the school’s Admissions Policy in conjunction with the Local Authority procedures for placing children in schools.
The planned admission number (PAN) per class for St John's is 30 children. This means that we can admit up to 30 pupils into each year group.
We are now accepting applications for Reception September 2025. Please contact the school office if you have any queries.
Reception September 2025-2026
If your child is born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021 they are due to start Reception in September 2025.
The normal deadline for the application for Reception is the January of the year that they are due to start. Full details can be found in the Barnet Primary Schools Admissions Guide.
Please complete your Barnet application by Wednesday 15th January 2025 and your school application via the school supplementary information form (SIF) also no later than Wednesday 15th January 2025.
You will find out the outcome of your application from Barnet Council on the evening of Wednesday 16th April 2024.
You will need to accept or decline your offer by Wednesday 30th April 2024.

Admission Arrangements for Pupils with Disabilities
All places are allocated in accordance with the school’s Admissions Policy in conjunction with the Local Authority procedures for placing children in schools. We endeavour to be a fully inclusive school within the constraints of the premises; as such, normal admissions arrangements will be followed for pupils with disabilities. We will take all feasible steps to accommodate all children, ensuring that reasonable adjustments are made to meet a particular need of a pupil with disability.
Appeals Timetable
If you feel that the Governing Body has not followed the Admissions Policy and you wish to appeal against their decision, you must lodge an appeal within 20 school days from the date of notification.
