Vision & Values

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”- Philippians 4:13.

We believe that each child is made in the image of God and has unique gifts and a purpose; we nurture, encourage and challenge everyone to love learning, be their very best today and be prepared for tomorrow.

In our caring environment where faith and education join in harmony, our children are encouraged to live a life of hope and grow into lifelong learners. They are guided to overcome challenges and journey towards individual triumphs, whilst shepherding them to grow spiritually, morally and academically. We listen to and respect every individual, everyone’s efforts are celebrated and we always strive for excellence.

Together, as a loving and inclusive community, we celebrate God’s goodness seen in one another.

This reading is taken from a letter in the New Testament written from St Paul to the Philippians.  The reading can be better understood if the verse preceding it is also considered:

"...I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11–13)

St Paul is informing the Philippians that we should do everything with the knowledge that Christ is with us and should be content with the outcomes - whatever they may be.  He writes of both positive and challenging situations that he has found himself in and suggests to the Philippians that they can learn to have a strong heart filled with contentment when Christ is present, irrespective of the circumstances.

Christ permeates everything we do at St John’s for both children and adults, whether that be learning about a maths equation, taking part in a girls’ football match or attending a meeting of the Governing Board.  This enables us to nurture a community of many different faiths and beliefs.  The knowledge that Christ is always with us enables us to live a life of hope in which we can celebrate our successes but are also able to accept our struggles;  knowing that He will be there to guide and support us on our journey will instil in us joy, peace and gratitude and give us the strength to persevere when things are difficult.  We can be thankful for experiencing all things through Christ, following His guidance and applying the positive mindset that anything is possible.
